Citizen Radar Patrol
The Golden Police Department has instituted a program, “The Citizen Radar Patrol” to help keep our city streets safe.
The Citizen Radar Patrol is comprised of a group of citizen volunteers who want to take a proactive approach to traffic violations. Each member has been trained in the use of radar to measure traffic speeds.
The idea for the patrol came from a group of concerned citizens who were observing traffic violations in the community. They approached the police department and asked if there was a way they could work cooperatively with the department to help reduce the number of violations in their neighborhoods.
The function of the patrol is solely to gather information on speed and other violations within the neighborhoods of Golden. Vehicle information is recorded and a letter is sent to the registered owner of the vehicle. The letter is intended to serve as a reminder to citizens to observe traffic laws and drive accordingly.
No enforcement action will be taken by the Citizen Radar Patrol
