Victim Outreach Information (VOI)

Our mission: To support victims of crime and to empower them to access resources that protect their rights and promote safety, healing, and hope. We provide crisis intervention, information about victim’s rights and the criminal justice system, and offer referrals to help clients deal with the resulting trauma and life change. Services continue throughout the criminal justice process.
Service area: VOI contracts with the cities of Golden, Wheat Ridge, Edgewater, Mountain View, Lakeside and Colorado School of Mines to provide law enforcement based victim services.
Volunteer opportunities:
Pager Duty Pager Advocates provide on-scene crisis intervention to crime victims, offering support and access to resources during a critical stage of trauma. Advocates work closely with law enforcement and the court system to ensure victims’ rights are upheld and needs are met.
Child Protection Team Represent VOI at weekly Child Protection Team meetings at Jefferson County Human Services, Thursdays from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
Crime Review Review all police reports and determine eligibility for compensation due to finances losses incurred as a result of the crime.
Office Support Administrative support including preparing outreach letters, answering phone, outreach calls, data entry, filing, and general office support.
Special Projects Various projects available including: fundraising events, community outreach, newsletter support, and resource guide revision.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Submit to a background check
- Complete the initial 40-hour training (if providing direct services)
- Attend monthly volunteer meetings.
